A Township resident in the 200 Block of Llanfair Road, Ardmore, submitted a raccoon to the Department of Agriculture Lab in Harrisburg for rabies testing.  The raccoon has tested positive for rabies and is the first case of animal rabies in Montgomery County this year.

Anyone that has been bitten, scratched or had saliva exposure by any raccoon must receive treatment to prevent this fatal disease.  If you, someone in your household, or any of your pets have possibly had contact with this raccoon or any other stray or wild animal, immediately call the Montgomery County Health Department, Division of Communicable Disease Control at (610) 278-5117.

Flyers will be distributed in the area where the raccoon was found to alert residents.
